About KIN
Built to help knowledge move.
Our beginning
KIN began with a simple observation.
There is an enormous amount of research about Black life, but finding and understanding that research can still require specialized knowledge, academic access, and time.
KIN is being built to close that gap.

Founder
Micah Griffin, PhD
Founder
Micah is a health equity strategist, researcher, former professor, and community leader whose work has consistently focused on translating research and evidence into decisions, programs, and strategies that improve health and community outcomes.
KIN grew from a problem he repeatedly encountered professionally: important evidence often exists, but the people who need it do not always know where to find it or how to make it useful.
What guides us
Principles we build by.
- Evidence first
- Every answer is grounded in identifiable research, with its strengths and limits made visible.
- Plain language
- Clear, respectful explanations that never talk down to the reader.
- Culturally grounded
- Built with deep respect for the communities, scholars, and institutions behind this knowledge.
- Knowledge should move
- Research reaches its highest value when it is understood, shared, and put to work.
The name
KIN is the platform. KINfolk is the community around it.
The people who ask questions, share knowledge, challenge assumptions, and help research move farther.
Early access
Help shape what KIN becomes.
We are building KIN with researchers, students, educators, community leaders, and early users who believe credible research should be easier to access and understand.
